Location: Summit County, CO. Mon-Thu required in-person, in-office
Pay Range: $100,000-$120,000
 
 
Job summary:
The Finance Director reports directly to the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including cash flow, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.  Must be hands on, not a delegator.  This position is responsible for ensuring that FIRC manages resources in the most beneficial way and helps maximize our funding, while aligning with the Organization’s strategic goals, mission, vision and values.

The person we are looking for will:

Primary responsibilities:
  • Manages all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and support to our auditors.
  • Supervise accounting staff to ensure smooth day-to-day transactions, and provide leadership support including, but not limited to training, timecards, scheduling, performance, deliverables, etc.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare the annual operating budget for approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Account for income and expenses for current and future capital campaigns, including tracking of pledge receipts, construction in process, and expenses related to the new building.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Monthly reconciliation for bank and investment accounts
  • Backup Accountant when needed for all accounting activities including check processing, vendor inquiries, credit card processing, and reconciliations
  • Support Federal, State, and foundation grants’ lifecycles including but not limited to budget preparation for submission, tracking of labor costs and expenses, grant invoicing, and grant audits.
  • If needed, occasionally be the backup for HR with the payroll approval process.
  • Implement Strategy Plan KPIs with the Director team and Board of Directors.
  • May participate in the HIPAA Taskforce and collaborate in the development of privacy policies and data security plans.
 
Requirements of the position include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance & MBA or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of proven work experience as an accountant or finance professional, preferably in a nonprofit organization
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Ability to successfully manage a workload that balances long-term planning with the daily demands of holding a key position within the organization.
  • Experience with budgeting, general ledger accounting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems, Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
  • Excellent people skills with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team, as well as willingness to provide support to the greater FIRC’s staff as available and necessary.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Reliable transportation year-round to navigate Summit County to attend job related meetings and events.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Non-profit work experience
  • Experience using Blackbaud Financial Edge and Razor’s Edge
