Description
To provide a safer and more sustainable urban-wild interface for residents, hikers, bikers, motorized users, and equestrians; volunteers will spend the day hauling slash - including the removal of undesirable woody species, downed brush and logs - in an effort to reduce the potential for dangerous wildfires. Volunteers will learn species identification, pruning techniques and other procedures and theory behind fuel load reduction. Volunteers should dress for a day on the trail - bring water, lunch, work gloves, layered clothing including long pants, sturdy boots, sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent, for an enjoyable day. Meet at 8:30 for coffee and bagels to start the day, snacks and beverages will be provided at the end of the work day ?trailgate? party.
