Join the rest of the state for Pulling for Colorado Day by pulling weeds in Summit County, located in the heart of the White River National Forest. The White River National Forest in Summit County supports a wild variety of native trees, lush vegetation, and diverse wildlife. Unfortunately, invasive plant species are changing this fragile ecosystem. Left unchecked, these noxious weeds aggressively invade the forest lands, reduce native plant populations, degrade wildlife habitat and affect the overall health of the ecosystem. Join us in slowing down the invasion of these noxious weeds. Volunteers will spend the day pulling invasive plant species by hand and shovel. Volunteers should dress for a day on the trail - bring water, lunch, work gloves, layered clothing including long pants and long sleeved shirt, sturdy boots, sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and lots of enthusiasm! Meet at 8:30 for coffee and bagels to start the day, snacks and beverages will be provided at the end of the work day ?trailgate? party.
